Wooden houses were built during 18. century. People who lived in were mostly tailor, furrier, toy maker, saddler, shoemaker, music instruments maker or midwife. 

In the end of 19. century became Betlém home of factory workers. Because of attempt of preservationist which tried save the original aspect of this area is possible to visit this place now.

One of wooden house offers to find out information about carnival parade which comes under UNESCO.
